Live at the Dawn Club — Thursday, August 6, 8pm–12am

Join Thu for a night of jazz, blues, and Latin-inflected standards at San Francisco's Dawn Club, tucked into an alley just behind the Palace Hotel in the historic Monadnock Building. The original Dawn Club opened here in the 1930s as a Prohibition-era speakeasy and became the epicenter of San Francisco's Great Jazz Revival, hosting legends like Lu Watters' Yerba Buena Jazz Band and broadcasting live "Air Shots" across the Pacific during WWII. The club has since been lovingly restored with an art deco hall, marble tables, gilt bell lamps, and sunburst chandeliers, bringing that golden-age glamour back to downtown SF. Thu will be joined by a phenomenal lineup for this special evening, including a very special guest all the way from Los Angeles.

Thu Ho — Vocals. Thu is a San Francisco-based jazz and blues vocalist with a decade of performing experience, trained under Dena DeRose, Rebeca Mauleon, and Madeline Eastman. She has shared stages with Joe Lovano, Victor Wooten, Akira Tana, and Mads Tolling, and served as featured vocalist with the SFJAZZ Monday Night Band from 2017–2020.

Aimee Nolte — Piano (Special Guest, Los Angeles). Aimee Nolte is a Los Angeles-based jazz pianist, vocalist, and educator whose "Aimee Nolte Music" YouTube channel has grown to over 300,000 subscribers, with an additional 248,000 followers on Instagram. She earned her jazz piano degree from Brigham Young University in 1998 and has performed alongside jazz greats including John Clayton, Larry Goldings, Jacob Collier, and Nicki Parrott. She has released four full-length albums and an EP, with her work praised in Downbeat as capturing a beautiful, reflective quality. Beyond the stage, she's become one of the most beloved voices in online jazz education, known for making complex music theory accessible to a massive global audience. We're thrilled to have her join us in San Francisco for this one-night-only performance.

Chris Gamper — Chris Gamper, aka GamperDrums, is a prominent drum set artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, performing extensively nationally and internationally as both a bandleader and sideman across jazz, funk, latin funk, world beat, and rock projects. He has released two solo albums, including Epidermis Is Showing, which drew praise from renowned drummer Stanton Moore for the rare skill and attentiveness Chris brings across such a wide range of musical styles.

Aaron Germain — Upright Bass. Aaron Germain has lived and performed in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2000, splitting his career between work as a sought-after sideman and his own compositions as a bandleader. Equally adept on electric and upright bass, his playing has been described as relaxed, confident, and unpretentious, always serving exactly what the music asks of it. He has released four albums as a leader, and his 2010 debut Before You Go was singled out by Bass Player Magazine for its rich, warm acoustic tone and equally tasteful command of the electric bass.

Doors and music run 8pm–midnight, no cover to walk in, though reservations are recommended for table service. Come dressed for a night out! The Dawn Club's Art Deco glamour deserves it.
